Shahzada Jahandur Durrani

Jahandur is a founder member and managing partner of Durrani Law Associates. He has more than 15 years of working experience with local and international law firms, including in-house with companies. He has in-depth knowledge and experience to deal with complex legal issues in multi-jurisdictional transactions. In addition, part of his practice revolves around disputes resolution, including arbitration. Jahandur also specializes in banking and finance matters and currently advising several major banks in Pakistan.

Jahandur also has extensive work experience in the UK, where he regularly advised UK-based companies in connection with their legal and transactional matters.

  • Advising the Government of Punjab in connection with setting up oversight mechanism for running Public Sector Companies in Punjab keeping in view the compliance of Corporate Governance Rules.
  • Drafting Punjab Housing and Development Authority Law and Rules in line with Federal Affordable Housing Program, including advising PHATA on Public-Private Partnership strategies and models.
  • Advising Base of Pyramid Asia (“BOPA”) in connection with legal due diligence on Sindh Microfinance Bank Limited (“SMFB”) for the purposes of acquisition of equity interest.
  • Advising Pak Oman Microfinance Bank in connection with the recovery of write off loans from the customers.

  • Assisted Honourable Judge regarding registration fee for the rent agreement which is not required when registered under Punjab Rented Premises Act. [Reference cases reported as HASCOL Petroleum Limited v. Rent Registrar etc. PLD 2018 Lah 713];
  • Assisted Honourable Judge regarding Voluntary Retirement Separation Scheme when it is accepted with free will and volition, the same cannot be cancelled and withdrawn as it is a concluded contract between the parties. [Reference cases reported in a consolidated judgement as Wali ur Rehman v. State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan etc. 2018 PLC (CS) 1230.]
